Team Newark is focused on positive youth development, childhood obesity, and community youth mapping. Specifically, they are working to increase the active involvement of residents with children, youth, and parents/caregivers. The City of Newark has had several successes in policy changes and citizen engagement in the fields of youth development and childhood obesity, however, Team Newark will work to increase the sustainability of these initiatives beyond the term of the current City leadership. The Team hopes to accomplish this through increased civic engagement and community ownership that will create greater stewardship among community members.
