Team Baltimore has been spearheading efforts at stopping the construction of a $70 million dollar youth prison in Baltimore. They hope to see those funds reallocated to programs that would improve the recreational, educational, and employment opportunities for youth and young adults in Baltimore. In addition to learning best practices and fresh ideas for possible legislation, Team Baltimore hopes to bring national awareness to the issue of halting construction on new prisons that disproportionately incarcerate African American males before giving them proper educational, recreational, and economic opportunities.
