Effective solutions to the surge of gun violence have long been elusive in the public arena. Adopted in December of 1791, the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, part of the Bill of Rights, protects the right of people to keep and bear arms. The Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to possess and carry arms.
This Day of Dialogue is designed to explore the impact of the Second Amendment on our daily lives. The dialogue will focus on solutions to some of the vexing problems that have resulted from policies that allow easy access to weapons. Current research on the nature and impact of social policies will be presented. Participants will learn how to conduct a dialogue and they will be able to determine the most effective next steps they may pursue as a result of this critical and timely training.
