On Saturday, August 3, 2013, the Empowerment Congress hosted a captivating Day of Dialogue geared toward finding solutions to the issues made evident by Trayvon Martin’s tragic death and George Zimmerman’s not-guilty verdict.

Throughout its 22 year history, the Empowerment Congress’ distinctive and deliberate model of civic engagement has educated, engaged, and empowered communities to achieve vital outcomes and impact public policy. Keeping with this legacy, the Empowerment Congress, in partnership with Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, the Institute for Nonviolence in Los Angeles, and Days of Dialogue, provided the community an opportunity to discuss a broad range of topics and reactions resulting from this case.
