On Thursday, February 21, 2019, the Empowerment Congress Health Committee, in partnership with the Office of Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, hosted a screening of The Color of Medicine: The Story of Homer G. Phillips Hospital, followed by a short discussion with the filmmakers. Panelists included Joyce Marie Fitzpatrick, executive producer, co-director, and writer; Brian Shackelford, co-producer, co-director, and co-writer; and Rebecca Robinson, co-producer and media manager.

Participants were very engaged and appreciated the opportunity to see the film. Several of the audience members were connected to the hospital in some way – some guests had been born at Phillips, grew up in the community, or had a parent who worked in the hospital – adding to the excitement of the evening.
