Report on Arts Convergence Conference in Sacramento
Featuring Lula Washington, Artistic Director, Lula Washington Dance Theater
This was a report on Advocacy Convergence organized by Americans for the Arts and attended by arts professionals from across the state in Sacramento. Speakers shared their experience meeting and talking with policy makers and dealing with the political dynamism involved in advocacy for the arts at the state level. Other speakers included Kate Jopson of Heidi Duckler Dance Company and Marie Kellier of CARICABELA.
Mapping Cultural Resources in the Second District
Featuring Sophia Klatzer, CEO, Arts for LA
This event was organized as part of the committee’s ongoing effort to map cultural assets in the Second District. a potential partnership was being explored between Arts for L.A. and the Empowerment Congress Arts and Cultural Committee in order to extend its network of community collaborators. Ms. Klatzer shared the major mapping project now being undertaken by Ats for L.A. The mapping project that was presented dealt with the distribution of arts education service throughout Los Angeles County schools, and gave valuable insights on how a mapping project might be developed.
