About the Working Group

The EC Government Reform & Accountability Working Group (GRAWG) is comprised of civic engagement activists committed to the mission of education, engagement and empowerment. Significant changes in the governance, management and administration of local court and federal government have been enacted or proposed recently. These changes will impact the allocation of resources, delivery of services and accountability to citizen beneficiaries. Issues of representation, transparency and equity feature prominently in proposed reforms and their implementation. Participants in the EC GRAWG have a specific interest in monitoring implementation of proposed reforms to advance our interests and to express support, opposition or concern as we deem appropriate.

Goals:

  1. Share content of research into and information about implementation of government reform activity and action.
  2. Advocate for greater transparency and public participation in government reform efforts.
  3. Identify opportunities to petition relevant public officials to express positions and informed opinion about reform actions and proposals.

Issues:

The Empowerment Congress Government Reform and Accountability Working Group (GRAWG) is organizing civic engagement activists interested in learning more about implementation of L.A. County Measure G (the election of a CEO, expansion of the Board of Supervisors, ethics reform, establishment of a Government Reform Task Force and County Charter Reform Commission) and execution and implementation of Agenda 47 and Project 2025 (the Trump Administration’s unilateral attempts to refashion the federal government). The goal is to identify concerns and express support or opposition to actions, proposals and issues of interest.

Please consider completing our membership survey assist us in our organizing efforts by assessing how we might direct and deploy Working Group members so that we can be better MOVERs (Mobilizers, Organizers, Volunteer Empowerment Recruiters).
