On Thursday, February 21, 2019, the Empowerment Congress Health Committee, in partnership with the Office of Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, hosted a screening of The Color of Medicine: The Story of Homer G. Phillips Hospital, followed by a short discussion with the filmmakers. Panelists included Joyce Marie Fitzpatrick, executive producer, co-director, and writer; Brian Shackelford, co-producer, co-director, and co-writer; and Rebecca Robinson, co-producer and media manager.

Participants were very engaged and appreciated the opportunity to see the film. Several of the audience members were connected to the hospital in some way Рsome guests had been born at Phillips, grew up in the community, or had a parent who worked in the hospital Рadding to the excitement of the evening.
