Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and the Empowerment Congress invite you to share your views about how the County can improve accountability and boost public trust in the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. A Civilian Oversight Commission is being created by the Board of Supervisors to advise them and the Sheriff on ways to enhance the Department’s public safety mission while ensuring the civil rights of the public they are responsible to serve.

The Supervisors established a seven member Work Group to propose the Commission’s mission, authority, size, composition, appointing process, responsibilities, and relationship to the Board, the Sheriff, and the Inspector General. The Work Group seeks to share the results of their deliberations to date with interested members of the public at a series of community meetings through-out L.A. County.

Please register below to attend and share your views, including alternate proposals. For more information, please visit www.lacounty.gov/sheriff-oversight.

Free parking is available in the Exposition Park lot.
